Nvidia's Nemotron 3 Ultra becomes the smartest open US model, but China still leads

Nvidia’s Nemotron 3 Ultra is now the top-ranked U.S. open AI model, according to Artificial Analysis.

The model has about 550 billion total parameters, 55 billion active parameters, and scored 48 on the platform’s intelligence ranking.

It also exceeded 300 tokens per second on DeepInfra, making it faster than comparable U.S. open models.

Despite the strong showing, Chinese open models such as Kimi K2.6 still rank higher overall, and the best closed model remains ahead.

Nvidia plans to release Nemotron 3 Ultra on June 4 via Hugging Face, OpenRouter, and other platforms.
