Meta launches free verification badge “Facebook Verified” on Facebook; sign up with a selfie video, separate from “Meta Verified”

Meta is rolling out Facebook Verified, a free badge that uses a short selfie video to confirm a Facebook account is run by a real person.

The rollout will be gradual by country and region, starting in selected markets.

The badge is designed to appear in places like Marketplace, Groups, Dating, Profiles, and later posts.

Meta positions it as a simple trust signal as AI-generated profiles and content become more common.
