Google's new YouTube AI tools could make AI slop impossible to escape

Google is adding a more conversational “Ask YouTube” experience in search, starting with U.S. YouTube Premium users.

The feature lets users ask structured video questions directly in the search box to find content faster.

Google is also bringing Gemini Omni tools to YouTube Shorts so creators can remix clips with AI-generated edits.

To keep AI-edited Shorts traceable, Google says they will include watermarks, metadata, source links, and creator opt-out controls.
