Investigation ‘BrowserGate’ says LinkedIn silently scans users' PCs when visited

BrowserGate says LinkedIn runs JavaScript that detects installed software and browser extensions when users open LinkedIn pages.

The project reports collected data is sent to LinkedIn servers and third parties, including HUMAN Security.

BrowserGate published an Evidence Pack and says scanned extension entries rose from 5,459 in Dec 2025 to 6,167 by Feb 2026.
