Finally, texts between Android and iPhone users can be end-to-end encrypted

Apple and Google have started beta testing end-to-end encrypted RCS messaging between updated iPhone and Android devices.

Cross-platform texts can now be protected in transit, with a lock icon indicating encryption.

The rollout closes a major privacy gap in messaging between the two biggest mobile ecosystems.
