Labour reminds that no one has to “choose between their safety and their job”: four days of paid leave for wildfires

Spain’s labour ministry said wildfire-affected workers do not have to choose between safety and work.

Employees unable to get to work because of evacuations or transport disruptions can take up to four days of paid leave under force-majeure rules.

If the disruption lasts longer, companies can turn to ERTEs to protect jobs and income.

The guidance applies in fire-hit areas including Madrid, Ávila, Toledo and Valencia, reinforcing labour rights during emergencies.
