Morocco is building a 1,000 km highway to Western Sahara and already has a name for it: "President Donald Trump"

Morocco is building a 1,000-km-plus highway linking Tiznit, Laayoune and Dakhla in the disputed Western Sahara region.

Donald Trump promoted a video on Truth Social describing the project as the “President Donald J. Trump Highway.”

The road project dates back to a 2015 coastal highway expansion and is valued at about 880 million euros.

Crossing a territory claimed by both Morocco and the Polisario Front, the route strengthens Rabat’s hold on the south.

Trump’s post revives the diplomatic stakes, after his 2020 recognition of Western Sahara as part of Morocco.
