OpenAI phone reportedly lands early next year – do you want one?

OpenAI is reportedly speeding up its first AI-focused smartphone, with a new launch target in the first half of 2027.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says the timeline has moved up from a later expectation, signaling faster progress than previously thought.

The device is said to use customized MediaTek hardware, including the Dimensity 9600, to support AI-heavy features.

If true, the phone could give OpenAI a new hardware platform for AI agents and increase pressure on established smartphone makers.
