CNN Is The Latest Media Company To Sue Perplexity

CNN has sued Perplexity, accusing the AI search company of large-scale copyright infringement.

The lawsuit says Perplexity scraped and copied more than 17,000 CNN items, reproduced verbatim text, and even attributed hallucinated material to CNN.

CNN says licensing talks failed and Perplexity kept using its content after warnings; Perplexity replied that facts cannot be copyrighted.

The case adds to mounting legal pressure on AI companies over the use of publisher and paywalled journalism.
