YouTube’s AI content labels are getting a much-needed makeover

YouTube is making AI disclosures more visible by moving labels below long-form videos and onto Shorts overlays.

Minor or non-photorealistic edits may still be labeled in descriptions, but significant AI use will get clearer on-screen labeling.

YouTube will also auto-detect undisclosed AI content and let creators fix mistakes in YouTube Studio.

Videos made with YouTube’s own AI tools or confirmed as fully AI-generated will stay permanently labeled.

The company says the new system will not affect recommendations or monetization.
