Copper and liquid cooling mods double MacBook Neo performance while cutting temps by 20°C

Mods combine copper plating over the CPU with an external thermoelectric cooler and cooling pad that fit under the original cover, leaving outward appearance unchanged.

No Man's Sky ran ~30 fps stock (1,408×881, medium); the copper mod nearly doubled it to ~60 fps, and an unlocked framerate with the external cooler exceeded 90 fps.

Stock thermal limit reached 105°C; post-mod temps fell to ~85°C (about a 20°C drop); the external thermoelectric cooler can drop idle temps into the 20s and hold load temps in the 70s.

With the external cooler Fallout 4 reached 60 fps, and Cyberpunk 2077 remained playable at ~30 fps on low settings.

The Neo ships with 8GB of unified RAM, uses the same processor as the iPhone 16, has price cited as a market factor, and earned an iFixit repairability score of 6—called the most repairable MacBook in 14 years.
