The future tallest tower in the world has grown again. Its biggest obstacle was not the concrete

Jeddah Tower in Jeddah has resumed construction after years of delay, with a new contract signed in October 2024.

Work continued through 2025 and 2026, and the tower has now passed 100 floors while structural and MEP installations remain underway.

The project remains without a final opening date, but the pace signals renewed momentum for Saudi Arabia’s flagship skyscraper.

Its revival highlights the Saudi-UAE rivalry for urban prestige and investment, and supports Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 diversification drive.
