OpenAI adds AI pets to its Codex coding tool

OpenAI added Codex Pets, an optional animated companion overlay for its Codex coding tool.

The feature shows project status, can be toggled with shortcuts, and includes eight built-in pets.

Users can also create custom companions and share them online.

The update highlights OpenAI’s push to blend developer productivity with personalization and community features.
