Google launches a tiny board that runs Gemma 3 locally

Google unveiled the Coral Board at I/O, a compact single-board computer for local on-device AI.

Built around an open-source Coral NPU on RISC-V plus a Synaptics Astra SL2619 chip, it can run Gemma 3 270M entirely on-device.

Google showed demos for translation, voice control, and generative music, with the code released as open source.

The board is meant for small edge devices and could reduce reliance on cloud AI and fragmented hardware.

Google says it should ship this summer, though pricing has not been announced.
