The Hunt for Natural Hydrogen Shifts to the Philippines

Koloma, a U.S.-backed energy startup, has received Philippine government approval to explore natural hydrogen prospects in Zambales near Mount Pinatubo.

The company believes the area could hold large underground hydrogen deposits, but proving commercial-scale reserves may take at least two years.

A successful find could create a new clean-hydrogen source, improve the Philippines’ energy security, and support future ammonia exports.
