New HUDIMM DDR5 Standard Promises Cheaper Memory, But Testing Shows It Slashes Bandwidth in Half

Intel and partners introduced HUDIMM, a lower-cost DDR5 module standard.

It uses a single 32-bit channel instead of the usual dual-channel design to cut memory costs.

Benchmark tests showed memory bandwidth drops by about 50%, while latency stays roughly the same.

That means the price advantage may be outweighed by the performance hit for gamers and PC builders.
