NASA just dropped new high-quality Moon photos from Artemis II

NASA posted around two dozen high-resolution Moon photos from the Artemis II mission on its website and Flickr.

The images were taken by the Artemis II crew during a lunar flyby that observed portions of the Moon’s far side never seen directly.

The crew flew about 4,067 miles above the lunar surface, witnessed a nearly hour-long total solar eclipse, and underwent a planned 40-minute communications blackout.

Crew members reported six flashes from meteoroid impacts; some eclipse photos show Earthlight dimly lighting the Moon, and other images capture Earth rising and setting.

Venus, Saturn and Mars appear in different images; Artemis II reached 252,756 miles and splashdown is expected off the coast of San Diego.
