Samsung Messages will be discontinued in July as part of Google Messages upgrade

Samsung will end support for Samsung Messages in the US in July 2026 and steer Galaxy users to Google Messages.

On Galaxy devices running Android 12 and later, the app will be phased out and removed from the Galaxy Store.

Access is already blocked on Galaxy S26 devices, with in-app prompts guiding users to set up Google Messages.

Older devices are not affected, but Tizen OS watches will lose full message history while still allowing text send and read functions.
