Google employees ask Sundar Pichai to say no to classified military AI use

More than 600 Google employees are urging Sundar Pichai to block any classified Pentagon use of Google AI models.

In a letter, they warned such deployments could happen without employee knowledge or oversight and clash with Google’s AI principles.

The push follows reports that Google and the Pentagon are discussing classified use of Gemini AI.

The debate adds pressure to Google’s defense AI strategy as rivals already work in classified environments.
