OpenAI now wants ChatGPT to access your bank accounts

OpenAI is previewing a ChatGPT feature that links financial accounts through Plaid for personalized spending, subscription, and investment insights.

The initial rollout is for U.S. ChatGPT Pro users, with support for institutions such as Schwab, Fidelity, Chase, and Capital One.

OpenAI says ChatGPT cannot move money or view full account numbers, and users can disconnect accounts or delete stored financial memories.

The feature raises significant privacy and security concerns because it would give ChatGPT access to highly sensitive financial data.
