Google pushes Android apps to better support ‘ultra-wide foldables’ like Galaxy Z Fold 8

Google is updating Android app guidance for ultra-wide foldables like the Galaxy Z Fold 8.

Developers are being told not to assume fixed orientation or screen size, and to use adaptive layouts, Window Size Classes, and Jetpack Window Manager.

Google also highlighted fold-aware camera handling with CameraX to keep apps working well on new aspect ratios.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 lineup is also the first to support Gemini Nano 4, with related Wear OS updates for the Galaxy Watch 9.
