Ubuntu 26.04 (Linux) OS Now Has Heavier PC Requirements Than Microsoft Windows 11

Ubuntu 26.04 LTS is raising its desktop minimums to a 2 GHz dual-core CPU, 6 GB of RAM, and 25 GB of storage.

That puts Ubuntu’s base CPU and memory requirements above Windows 11’s published minimum specs.

Windows 11 still adds stricter hardware checks such as Secure Boot and TPM 2.0.

Ubuntu remains more flexible in practice, since it can still be installed on older PCs below the official desktop minimums.
