Elon Musk Seemingly Admits xAI Has Used OpenAI’s Models to Train Its Own

In federal court, Elon Musk suggested xAI may have used OpenAI models or outputs in training and validation.

He described distillation as one AI model training another and said xAI had done it with OpenAI “partly.”

Musk also said using other AIs to validate systems is standard practice, even as labs tighten restrictions on such use.
