Toyota joins cellcentric joint venture to advance hydrogen fuel cells

Toyota is joining the cellcentric joint venture launched by Volvo and Daimler in 2020 to work on hydrogen fuel cells.

After joining, Toyota and cellcentric will collaborate on development and production of fuel cell unit cells for commercial use.

The move comes as several automakers, including Stellantis and GM, have ended or scaled back hydrogen fuel cell programs.

Toyota recently shifted some focus from commercial hydrogen applications to industrial uses but is renewing a commercial partnership.
