China: CATL opens world's largest energy storage testbed with 100 MVA grid simulator

CATL has opened the Xiamen Energy Storage Validation Research Institute, a large new testbed for storage systems.

The nearly 25-acre site can simulate grid conditions, extreme weather, faults, and fire scenarios for full-scale storage stations.

It includes a 100 MVA grid simulator plus thermal safety and combustion testing to evaluate battery performance and resilience.

With support from firms like TÜV SÜD and TÜV Rheinland, the facility aims to provide internationally recognized validation services.
