Venmo privacy finally being fixed eight years after ‘alarming’ fails

Venmo is testing a redesigned app that will make new users’ payment posts friends-only by default.

This reverses Venmo’s long-standing public-by-default setting for payment activity.

It is still unclear whether contacts will also be public by default.

The change comes after years of criticism over transaction details and messages exposing sensitive personal information.

The update could reduce accidental privacy leaks in one of the biggest peer-to-peer payment apps.
