Lilian Weng has left Thinking Machines Lab and returned to OpenAI.

She is reportedly leading an internal team focused on self-evolving AI and models that improve successor models.

The move leaves just two of Thinking Machines Lab’s six co-founders still at the startup.

It also highlights the intense competition for top AI talent and the strain of health and workload pressures at leading labs.
