Scientists Smash Superconductivity Record at Normal Pressure

Researchers at the University of Houston’s Texas Center for Superconductivity (TcSUH) used a new method to achieve superconductivity at ambient pressure.

The team reported a transition temperature (Tc) of 151 Kelvin.

This sets the highest temperature recorded for a superconductor operating at ambient pressure.

Transition temperature (Tc) is the threshold below which a material can carry electricity with zero resistance.

The study appeared in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences and was funded by Intellectual Ventures, the state of Texas through TcSUH, and other organizations.
