NASA isn't satisfied with a two-minute solar eclipse. That's why it's chasing it with a plane at 740 km/h

NASA will use a WB-57 aircraft to follow the Moon’s shadow during the Aug. 12 solar eclipse, extending observations of the Sun’s corona.

Sounding balloons will be launched from Iceland and Spain to measure atmospheric effects, including changes in the boundary layer and ozone.

The mission aims to better understand the corona, solar wind behavior, and how the temporary loss of sunlight alters Earth’s atmosphere.
