Google's 'Selfie Video' literally turns your face into a key for your account

Google is rolling out Selfie Video for Google Accounts, a new face-based sign-in and recovery option.

Users enroll by recording a guided video of their face, then verify later by submitting another video matched against the original.

Google says the videos are encrypted and can be deleted, and the feature is meant for lockout situations when usual devices are unavailable.

The update adds another biometric recovery path alongside passkeys and recovery contacts, but it also raises privacy concerns.
