Intel details 18A-P process node, touts higher performance, lower power, and better thermals

Intel detailed its 18A-P process node, an upgraded version of 18A aimed at improving performance, power efficiency, and thermal behavior.

Compared with 18A, 18A-P is said to deliver about 9% higher performance at the same power or 18% lower power at the same performance.

The node also adds new transistor options, tighter variability control, and more voltage flexibility to help improve yield and design flexibility.

Intel says 18A-P remains compatible with existing 18A designs, making it easier for chipmakers to adopt.
