Russia’s latest 13,800-ton nuclear submarine to carry hypersonic cruise missiles

Russia says the Yasen-M nuclear attack submarine Perm is expected to enter service by the end of 2026.

Perm is the first boat in the class designed from the outset to carry 3M22 Zircon hypersonic cruise missiles.

Russian officials also said the nuclear-powered Poseidon unmanned underwater vehicle is nearing operational readiness.

The moves underscore Moscow’s push to expand submarine-based strike and deterrence capabilities, complicating naval defenses.
