‘World’s first’ perovskite solar roof tile developed, delivers energy efficiency of 12.4%

Dutch research institute TNO developed a flexible perovskite-based solar roof tile concept and announced it as a first-of-its-kind product.

Individual flexible modules reached up to 13.8% efficiency in tests and the curved roof tile retained 12.4% after installation.

TNO applied the perovskite foil to a curved composite tile in collaboration with ASAT B.V.

TNO said the materials and processes are compatible with large-scale roll-to-roll production and completed development from lab cells to a practical tile.

TNO established spin-out Perovion Technologies on 11 March to support commercialization and will continue improving lifetime and scalability.
