Scientists Create Improved Insulin Cells That Reverse Diabetes in Mice

Researchers in Sweden improved a stem cell protocol to generate more functional insulin-secreting cells from human stem cells.

In lab tests, the cells responded to glucose, and after transplantation they reversed diabetes in mice.

The advance could make stem cell-based replacement therapy for type 1 diabetes more reliable and consistent.
