Tome, another Goodreads book-tracker rival, shuts down

Tome said it will shut down on May 29, ending its book-tracking app and website.

The BookTok-focused reading community said its 100,000 readers were not enough to cover the cost of running a media-heavy social app.

Users can download their data before the closure.

The shutdown highlights how crowded and difficult the market is for Goodreads alternatives and other social reading apps.
