OpenAI updates Codex and prepares Remote Control feature

OpenAI refreshed the Codex desktop app with a new onboarding flow, faster UI, annotation support, and prompts to connect work accounts.

The build also exposed unannounced features like SSH-based remote app control, keyboard remapping, a side-chat command, and a goal-oriented /goal command.

Some browser- and computer-use features remain restricted in Europe, including the EEA, UK, and Switzerland.

Overall, Codex is moving beyond coding toward a broader workplace agent that can manage tasks across apps, devices, and longer-running goals.
