New magnesium-tin alloy lasts 1,300 hours, boosts battery life by more than 400 times

Tohoku University researchers developed a magnesium-tin alloy anode for solid-state magnesium batteries.

By turning interfacial reactions into an advantage, the design enabled stable operation for over 1,300 hours.

The alloy delivered more than 400 times the cycling life of pure magnesium in tests.

The approach could help create safer, lower-cost battery alternatives with much longer lifetimes.
