Google updates its Gemini app to take on ChatGPT and Claude

Google unveiled major Gemini app upgrades at I/O, including Daily Brief, a redesigned interface, Gemini Omni for AI video, and Gemini Spark, a cloud-based personal agent.

The app is being repositioned from a chatbot into an all-purpose AI hub for planning, work, and content creation.

The new features will roll out to Google AI subscribers, with some higher-tier tools entering testing first.

The move sharpens Google’s push to compete more directly with ChatGPT and Claude in the consumer AI market.
