Google Pixel bests iPhone and Samsung in repairability name-and-shame report

US PIRG’s new “Failing the Fix” report ranks major U.S. smartphone brands on repairability, using European data on disassembly, documentation, spare parts, and software support.

Motorola came in first, Google Pixel second, Samsung third, and Apple last, underscoring how hard most phones still are to repair in the U.S.

The report also highlighted progress in Google’s ecosystem, including a fully repairable Pixel Watch 4 and a Pixel Buds 2a case with a replaceable battery.

The findings could add pressure on manufacturers to improve parts access, repair guides, and long-term software support.
