EU to Invest 10 Billion Euros to Build 7 'AI Gigafactories'

The European Commission has opened bids for up to seven AI gigafactories across the EU.

The plan includes €10 billion in public support and aims to unlock at least €20 billion in private investment.

The facilities are expected to begin operations around mid-2028.

The move is designed to boost Europe’s AI infrastructure and reduce reliance on U.S. and Chinese technology, while keeping energy and sustainability concerns in view.
