‘World’s most powerful’: Russia tests Satan II nuclear missile with 21,700-mile range

Russia tested its Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile, which Vladimir Putin has called the world’s most powerful nuclear missile.

The Sarmat is designed to replace the older Voyevoda system and is said to have a range of more than 21,700 miles.

The launch highlights Russia’s ongoing nuclear modernization as it upgrades strategic forces and new systems like Avangard and Oreshnik.

The test comes after formal U.S.-Russia limits on deployed strategic nuclear weapons expired, raising arms-control concerns.
