SoftBank plans 75 billion euro AI data center buildout in France

SoftBank plans a 5-gigawatt AI data center buildout in France, with an initial 3.1-gigawatt phase in Hauts-de-France by 2031.

The company will partner with Schneider Electric in Dunkirk and with Sesterce on an AI factory project at Bosquel.

French officials say the investment could help turn France into a major European AI hub.

The project is aimed at expanding sovereign AI infrastructure, creating jobs, and boosting France’s compute capacity in global competition.
