Samsung appeals Oura's U.S. patent validity ruling, expanding invalidity dispute appeals to five

Samsung has appealed to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit (CAFC) after the PTAB upheld one of Oura’s smart-ring patents.

That means Samsung is now challenging all five Oura patents that the PTAB found valid.

Samsung had previously sought to invalidate 11 Oura patents; the outcome split into six invalid and five valid.

The appeal could prolong the U.S. patent fight between Samsung and Oura into appellate and infringement litigation.

It may also affect competition between Galaxy Ring and Oura Ring, as well as possible ITC import bans and damages claims.
