Exclusive: Microsoft tests new MAI Realtime voice model

Microsoft appears to be quietly testing MAI Realtime, its own native real-time voice model.

The bidirectional full-duplex system can listen and speak at the same time, supports multiple languages, and handles interruptions well.

The model was spotted in a hidden early-access listing in MAI Playground, but Microsoft has not announced a public launch date.

If shipped broadly, it could power Copilot and other products while reducing Microsoft’s reliance on OpenAI for speech features.
