Scientists Crack the Code for Making “Impossible” Nanocrystals

University of Chicago and Argonne researchers developed a molten-salt method to synthesize metal nitride nanocrystals.

The approach overcomes a long-standing challenge in making these materials at the nanoscale, including gallium nitride.

The advance could enable durable, flexible, and printable materials for electronics, lighting, medical devices, and LEDs.
