Kioxia announces data center SSD NX1, the company’s first product to support DLC liquid cooling - IT Home

Kioxia announced the NX1 series, a new EDSFF E1.S PCIe Gen5 NVMe data-center SSD for AI workloads and GPU servers.

The drive is set to replace the XD family and begin sampling to select hyperscale customers.

NX1 delivers higher sequential and random write performance than the previous generation and uses Kioxia’s new controller architecture with BiCS8 TLC NAND.

It comes in 9.5mm and 15mm thicknesses, with capacities from 1.92TB to 15.36TB, and supports NVMe 2.0, OCP 2.6, NVMe FDP, and optional TCG Opal SED encryption.

The 9.5mm model also supports direct liquid cooling, which could help denser AI data-center deployments.
