The US government just banned Roombas

The FCC and Trump administration are moving to block imports of many foreign-made “advanced robotic devices” on national security grounds.

The scope goes beyond humanoids and could cover robot vacuums, lawnmowers, delivery robots, and warehouse robots with software, sensors, and wireless connectivity.

Existing approved products can still be sold, but new models from foreign makers may be stopped unless they win waivers.

Companies would likely need to show U.S. manufacturing plans or domestic sourcing to get an exception, pressuring suppliers to localize production.
