German AI consortium releases Soofi S, an open 30B model that tops benchmarks in both English and German

A German AI consortium released Soofi S, a 30B open Mixture-of-Experts model that performs strongly on both English and German benchmarks.

After launch, the team faced criticism over large-scale training, then disclosed and fixed a benchmark contamination issue in its training data.

The consortium removed GPQA from evaluation and updated the results to reflect the corrected benchmark set.

It says the open dataset helped the community spot the problem and has since added stricter data cross-checks.
