Instagram launched Instants, a DM feature for sharing batches of unedited photos with Close Friends or mutual followers.

Photos disappear after being viewed or within 24 hours, and Instagram says screenshots are disabled.

Recipients can reply, react, or repost saved copies to Stories, but the content still sits within Instagram’s moderation rules.

The launch expands Instagram’s ephemeral messaging tools, while also raising privacy and censorship concerns.
