Without Making a Fuss, Tenerife Is Becoming One of Spain’s Biggest Supercomputing Powers

Tenerife will launch the Atlantic Supercomputing Center, a new hybrid CPU-GPU system for scientific and AI workloads.

Led by the Cabildo of Tenerife, ITER and Bechtle, the project will add 1.3 to 1.4 PFLOPS of computing power.

With an initial €5.5 million investment, expandable to €10 million, it could make Tenerife Spain’s fifth most powerful supercomputer site.

The system will run on renewable energy at ITER facilities, strengthening the Canary Islands as a technology and research hub.
